The 16th Tirthankara in Jainism is Shantinatha.
He is revered as a symbol of peace (his name literally means “Lord of Peace”) and spiritual serenity. According to Jain tradition, Shantinatha was born in Hastinapur and later renounced worldly life to achieve kevala jnana (omniscience), ultimately attaining liberation (moksha).
In iconography, Shantinatha is typically depicted in a meditative posture, either seated or standing (kayotsarga), with his identifying emblem being the deer, symbolizing gentleness and calmness.
