Antique Standing Bronze Buddha
StyleNan School, Lanna, Thailand, with strong Sukhothai influence. The Buddha stands in double Abhaya Mudra, conveying fearlessness, protection and reassurance. The slender proportions, oval face, lowered half-lidded eyes, elongated earlobes and refined expression reflect the distinctive elegance of Nan Buddhist sculpture. Tight snail-shell curls rise toward a flame-shaped ushnisha. A particularly notable feature is the copper inlay at the navel, reflecting the sophisticated metalworking techniques associated with elite Nan workshops. The tiered lotus throne bears Burmese inscriptions, providing important evidence of the complex cultural and political history of the region.

The sculpture reflects the enduring Sukhothai artistic influence within the Nan tradition and preserves evidence of Burmese cultural presence in the region.
