Massive Rattanakosin Standing Buddhist Monk
Style
Rattanakosin Buddhist art, Thailand. The monk is depicted standing with his hands joined in Anjali Mudra, the gesture of reverence, greeting and devotion. His serene expression, downcast eyes and subtle smile convey a sense of calm contemplation. The hair is rendered in tightly curled spirals with gilt highlights, contrasting beautifully with the dark patina of the bronze. He wears a simple monastic robe draped over the left shoulder, complemented by an elegant sash crossing the chest.
