Antique Bagan / Pagan Bronze Buddha statue in Bhumisparsha Mudra Reign of King Anawrahta, 11th Century Burma
A rare bronze Buddha from the early Bagan (Pagan) period, depicting the earth-touching gesture (bhumisparsha mudra). The alloy sits between brass and bronze, with rich, deep mineralization throughout. Stylistically, the piece remains close to its Pala Indian models: King Anawrahta famously commissioned Pala artists to decorate Bagan's new imperial temples and to train local Pyu craftsmen in the emerging royal style.
