66 - Standing bronze Vishnu Pala India 11-12th century

This is a fine bronze sculpture of the Hindu god Vishnu, dating from the Pala period in India (11th-12th century). The statue stands at 19 cm high.
The deity is depicted in a standing posture, likely with a calm and serene expression. He would have originally been holding his four attributes in his hands, which are now missing. Despite this, the rest of the figure is in good condition. The figure is likely adorned with a tall crown, a sacred thread (yajnopavita), and various necklaces and other jewelry. The simple dhoti (loincloth) is draped in a manner typical of the Pala style.
The sculpture's elegant and elongated form, as well as the intricate details of the remaining adornments, are characteristic of the high level of craftsmanship during this period. The rich, dark patina indicates its age and long history
