81 - Dry lacquered Picnic box - Htamin Jaint - Myanmar Burma
150-250 €

Ancient Htamin Jaint, a bamboo and lacquered picnic box used for transporting meals, composed of five interlocking elements. From the Bagan region, Myanmar, dating to the first half of the 20th century.
The family name to whom it belonged is written on the handle.
53 cm in height for 25 cm in diameter.
The old and very decorative object with a timeless shape.
STATE
Good condition for an item of this era and that has been used over two generations, bearing the marks of its use, small chips, which do not detract from its charm (see photos). The item could be waxed to restore its shine, but personally, I prefer to leave objects in their original state.
A similar model can be found in the book, "Burma and the Art of Lacquer" by Ralph Isaacs and T. Richard Burton (see photos).
