10 - China - Horsewoman terracotta - Early Tang Dynasty - TL

Pretty Chinese horsewoman in slip-cast terracotta with polychromy from the Tang Dynasty. She wears a shawl that also covers her face and is tied at the back. She is dressed in a long, orange-colored dress with long sleeves, tightened above the waist. The horse is saddled and stands on a terrace, its head tilted forward, its mane braided and falling to its left side. The tail is straight and hanging. The polychromy is beautifully preserved. This horsewoman can be dated to the very beginning of the Tang Dynasty,
both by the style of the horse and that of the figure herself. A thermoluminescence test accompanies the object, certifying its authenticity.
