Fine Ava Bronze Buddha in Bhumisparsha Mudra
A superb 17th-century bronze Buddha, finely cast during the Nyaung Yan dynasty period ruling at Ava. The image depicts the Buddha in Bhumisparsha mudra—the earth-touching gesture symbolizing the moment of enlightenment. Standing 40 cm high, the figure displays the refined elegance characteristic of Ava bronzes, with harmonious proportions, a serene expression, and subtle detailing in the robe and facial features.

Originating from Burma (Myanmar), this piece embodies the spiritual and artistic refinement of the Ava tradition. It has been published in Myanmar Buddhist Imagery by Denis Lepage, underscoring its art-historical importance and recognition in scholarship.
